Reinforce the Safety and Hygiene Management for Laboratories: 2025 CPU Laboratory Safety Training Course.

In accordance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act, the university must provide safety and health education and training to laboratory staff and students, promote safety and health laws, and carry out activities that enhance safety and health.At the beginning of each academic year, Forensic Science Laboratory of CPU routinely conduct a 4-hour annual laboratory safety lecture for students who need to enter the lab for classes or research. A test is arranged after the lecture to confirm the learning effectiveness.All course materials and related regulations are provided online for participants to review as needed, with the goal of strengthening students’ understanding of laboratory safety, hazard prevention, and emergency response.
The Laboratory Safety Lecture was successfully held on September 5, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. A total of 136 participants, including undergraduate and Master's/Doctoral Students. The courses was opened by Chi-cheng Yang, director of the Forensic Science Laboratory of CPU, to encourage students to not only enrich their studies during their time at the school but also to pay close attention to the potential hazards in the laboratory environment and the importance of self-protection. The course specially invited Lecturer Yi-Yang Hsu from the Laboratory Safety and Health Center of the Ministry of Education to speak, who reminded participants to pay closer attention to often-overlooked risks in their surroundings. Finally, Squad Leader Hsin-Hung Chou from the PingDing Branch Taoyuan Fire Department gave a presentation on knowledge regarding fire prevention and handling in laboratory settings, and led the students in familiarizing themselves with the use of fire extinguishers.
After the courses,conducting online test. Not only can reduce using paper, but students can also directly review the analysis of the incorrect answers after the test, to ensure the correct concepts are more effectively implemented.We believe that everyone would be more familiar with the school environment and emergency response equipment and know how to protect themselves and keep away from the hazards of laboratories.
